Decorating on a budget at the White House

Moving into the White House and out tomorrow will take place behind the scenes, as if by magic. Now that’s interesting to me! Having had to move pastors and their families in/out of our parsonage I can totally relate. But, I had 6 days, not 6 hours. I am interested to see that there is budget of $100,000 to redecorate. That’s not much considering there are 24 rooms, but I don’t imagine that will include much wall moving, appliance replacing etc. I imagine it includes paint, carpet, draperies, maybe a little furniture, but I’m sure the vast stash of stored furniture comes in handy. I also read that the family will bring furniture with them. That’s a relief. I can’t imagine not having favorite things around me in such a stressful environment.
We prayed for the presidents and their families yesterday in church. Transitioning in such a major way is difficult for any family. My heart and prayers are with these leaders especially. Tomorrow is moving day!
